First Street Bridge Opens Three Weeks Early
First Street Bridge Opens Three Weeks Early
Published on July 17, 2025
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that the First Street bridge over Oak Creek is now open. The bridge had been under repairs since late April and was expected to be completed in early August.
“Completing this project three weeks early speaks to our dedication to offering great service to community members and businesses who adapt during construction,” said LTU Director Liz Elliott. “We are proud to reopen the First Street bridge with improved safety and durability, restoring a key connection that will make summer travel and access to nearby facilities easier for everyone.”
The project included repairs to the bridge abutment, approach slabs, girders, guardrail, and bridge deck surface treatments.
